It’s that time of year again — the SXSW PanelPicker is open! Here at Earnest, we couldn’t be more excited about the panel we’ve put together featuring Eric Colson, the Chief Algorithms Officer at Stitch Fix, and our very own Louis Beryl. But we need your help to get them on stage!
Together, they’ll address how smart data is changing the way we consume and how complex algorithms are not only simplifying our shopping habits online, but are also bringing forth better, more curated offerings.
At Stitch Fix, Eric has developed algorithms that, in partnership with their expert human stylists, blend the science of data with the art of fashion. Furthermore, Eric understands how and why these algorithms can enable better choices for customers. Ever wonder why it’s now possible (and even easy) to sort through the millions of TV shows and movies on Netflix or the thousands of garments available at Stitch Fix? Well, it’s due to great minds like Eric who weave together the narratives of our data into real, tangible benefits.
Louis, along with our team at Earnest, views data science and smarter design as a portal to completely redesigning the underwriting process and providing better financial options for financially responsible people. Through his own experience with student loans, he witnessed what he calls the “information asymmetry” between young borrowers and traditional lenders and has made it his mission to change how we harness data to make better lending decisions. We’re challenging the traditional stereotype of lending (think: tedious client service experience and mispriced APRs) to provide better financial products and capital to a new generation.
If you’re curious as to how a fashion retailer and a tech-enabled lender are inherently related when it comes to using data to provide a better client experience, head over to the PanelPicker and vote now! It’s as simple as signing up here and hitting that “thumbs up” button. Once you’ve voted, click here to quickly share it with your Twitter followers!
We’d love to hear your questions or comments for the session, so feel free to give us a shout on the voting page.
